Her Story

Paulina Rodríguez Busquets is a Puerto Rican soprano and musical theatre artist whose work spans opera, musical theatre, concert performance, and choral music. Originally from Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, she moved to the states at the age of 13. She graduated from the Performing Arts Highschool Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville, Florida. She then earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with an emphasis in Opera from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2023.

Her operatic repertoire includes Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, a role she has performed with both Camerata di Bardi and Chicago Summer Opera, as well as Gianetta in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore with Opera Lucca. Her operatic experience also includes scenes as Adina in L’elisir d’amore and Carolina in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto, as well as ensemble/chorus work in productions including The Tin Angel, Susannah, and Suor Angelica. Her training and performance experience have allowed her to work across a range of repertoire, from the classical operatic canon to contemporary American works.

In 2026, Rodríguez Busquets made her German musical theatre debut as Maria in Leonard Bernstein and Arthur Laurents’ West Side Story, performing the role entirely in German. The production marked a significant step in her development as a musical theatre artist and brought together the vocal technique and musicianship of her classical training with her interest in dramatic, physically demanding theatrical work.

Her performance experience extends beyond opera. She has appeared as a singer with Choral Arts Philadelphia and in the Recital de Danza Puertorriqueña de Puerto Rico, and has participated in an Opera America masterclass with baritone Lucas Meachem and performed as a mezzo-soprano soloist alongside Karen Slack in Song of Hope. In 2025, she was also a Resident Artist with La Fundación para las Artes Musicales de Mayagüez. Her work behind the scenes has included serving as a stage management assistant for Albert Herring at The Boston Conservatory Opera and as manager of the Conservatory’s Chorale and Choir.

Rodríguez Busquets is particularly interested in the space where classical vocal training and musical theatre meet. She brings a strong foundation in vocal technique, musicianship, language, and text work to her performances, while continuing to develop her skills in movement, acting, and contemporary musical theatre. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has performed professionally in German and Italian.

She is currently based in Europe and is building a career as a versatile performer across opera, musical theatre, concert work, and other contemporary performance settings.
